Fanuel David Moiane was born in January 1990 in Maputo, Mozambique. He comes from an artistic background with both his cousin Ezequiel Mabote and his older brother Isaac Sithole providing him with inspiration and giving him the skills to pursue his own talent and to become an artist in his own right. The BAT centre in Durban also provided him the platform to learn the skill of creating woodcut prints, and he also drew inspiration from the artist around him. Fanuel is currently working with colour reduction wood cut technique and he has developed his own style and colour palette that he likes to work with. Each woodcut print artist develops their own style and ‘story’ that they would like to portray. His older brother, Isaac, passed away some years ago and Fanuel has continued the tradition of this art form to keep supporting his family. We look forward to seeing this artist develop and continue the legacy of his family. Fanuel loves to portray his bold vision of life where there is a communion between man, animals and nature.
