These 4 paintings were inspired by Amedeo Modigliani. I love the simplicity of his work. The people are very self-contained, and there is an essence of silence in the characters. I love his muted colour palette and his backgrounds are so subtle and nuanced.
"My Muse is early 1900’s Paris, and one of my favourite subjects is cafe’s.
I love sitting in them, drinking good coffee, and watching the people around me.
Some are bored, some are lonely, others are arguing, and then again, there may be a little romance going on in the corner.
These paintings are inspired by my many happy hours spent in cafés observing."

"I have taken part in the 100 Day Project on the Internet.
I committed to paint one dog or cat every day for 100 days. I have been travelling quite a lot during this time, so I have had to work in airports and on my lap in strange rooms. It is not easy for me to work outside my studio, but I haven't missed a day yet. These paintings were inspired by some of the little ones I did for the project." |
